                                                                  So are you among the many who
                                                              tried their hands at growing a garden
                                                              for the first time this year?  Under
                                                              the dark skies of the current year,
                                                              we all seemed to find ourselves
                                                              with extra time on our hands. As a
                                                              result, an unprecedented number of
                                                              new vegetable gardeners descended
                                                              on garden centers, grabbing seeds,
                                                              plants, soil, compost, and fertilizer.
                                                              They soon discovered the challenges

                                                              Hopefully, among other things,
                                                              they developed an appreciation for
                                                              farmers and how they keep our store
                                                              shelves stocked, seemingly without
                                                              fail.
                                                                  Lesson I:
                                                                  In our region, the last possible
                                                              frost date is around May 10th,
                                                              coinciding with Mothers Day. This
                                                              is an important date to remember.
